out of my mind

Accidental Guitars

I’ve been working on some new guitar music, played a handful of shows in the past 5 months or so. This excerpt is from a show I played last Tuesday @ Cafe Fixe, in Brookline, put on by the nice folks at Non-Event.

Probably the better of the sets I’ve played lately, perhaps because of my deranged state of mind due to a super-persistent head cold and a very strong pull of espresso. Shows at this cafe are very strange, because you have to set up behind the counter while the baristas are still working. I’m kind of wedged behind their espresso machine and the recycling bins. It’s also very hard to hear the music that you’re making, w/ no monitors and the speakers out in front of the counter. That said, it’s a great environment, and it’s a trip to make this kind of music at peak dinner hours on a busy strip of Beacon St.

The owner, Max, will turn away people who want to order coffee to-go, and that’s always fun to watch. He’s also not afraid to play Albert Ayler in the middle of the afternoon.

This is a 5 minute excerpt of a 17 minute set.

Along these lines, there will be a full-length LP coming out in the next couple months or so on REL records, run by Eli Keszler. Keep posted here.

Hope you enjoy!
